Call open for EC Blue Book traineeship programme for university graduates

The programme offers young professionals the opportunity to do a five-month paid stay lasting from 1 March to 31 July 2024. Deadline for applications is 31 August 2023. A large variety of professional fields are included in this call.

The Blue Book traineeship programme allows discovering in depth the policies of the European Union and participating in the day-to-day life of the Commission and other related institutions. During their stay, participants have the chance to work full-time in some of the European Commission's Directorate-Generals (DGs), services or executional agencies. The monthly wage paid to each participant is approximately €1,350. Assigned tasks may include communication, law, translation and interpreting, administration, computer technology, etc.

Participants in the traineeship programme will be working mainly in Brussels, although it may also be possible to participate in Luxembourg or other cities of the European Union, depending on the institution or service needed.

Admission requirements to take part in this programme are as follows: a university degree of at least three years' duration with official certificate, no previous work experience of 6 weeks or more in EU institutions, bodies or agencies, in EU Delegations, with MEPs or with Advocates General of the Court of Justice (CJEU). You also need to have a C1 or C2 level (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR) in English, French or German, as well as a B2 level in a second official EU language. In the case of translation traineeships, a B2 level of a third official EU language according to the CEFR is also required.

The Blue Book traineeship programme is open to citizens of any European Union member state and there is no age restriction for candidates.
