"Els morts es facturen i les dones es despullen" will premiere at the UAB Theatre Hall on Thursday 20 June at 7 p.m., under the direction of Marta Sorribas and performed by the Taller de Teatre for people over 50.

The play, which promises to be a biting and humorous critique of society, unfolds in a theatrical tailor's shop where corpses and extravagant characters appear. This production follows the tradition of medieval farce, a genre that serves as a means of popular rebellion against the established power through humor and satire.

The play is an update of commedia dell'arte, boulevard theatre, vaudeville or cabaret theatre, and is based on the work of Dario Fo, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1997.

Dario Fo, born in Leggiuno-Sangiano, Italy, was an avant-garde playwright, director and actor-mime, known for his theatrical work that is often based on improvisation and recovers “illegal” forms of theatre, such as those performed by the giullari (itinerant medieval comics) and, more famously, the ancient Italian style of the commedia dell'arte. His works have been translated into 30 languages and performed all over the world.

This production was born as a result of the work done by the Taller de Thatre for people over 50. This workshop is aimed at all those over 50 years old, interested in experiencing the theatre from the inside, to participate and collaborate in a theatrical production, and to get a taste of the process of dramatic creation and the work of actors and actresses.
