The UAB Choir and the UB Pharmacy Choir will join the baroque orchestra Salvat Ensemble to offer a concert in the church of Sarrià on Friday 31 May at 6:30 p.m., with an open concert on Wednesday 29 May at 7:15 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities of the UAB.

Concert Cor i Cor Framàcia 2024

Both choirs will perform several works by the famous composer Georg Friedrich Händel, including well-known pieces such as "Hallelujah", "Zadok the Priest" and "Dettingen Te Deum".

Georg Friedrich Händel was a German composer who became a key figure in Baroque music and one of the most influential composers of Western music. Known for his operas, oratorios, hymns and instrumental compositions, he left an indelible mark on classical music.

Among the pieces to be performed are "Hallelujah", which is part of the oratorio "Messiah" and one of the most famous pieces by Händel, with triumphant music and use of biblical texts that convey a message of praise and happiness.

They will also perform "Zadok the Priest", a hymn that was composed for the coronation of King George II of Great Britain in 1727 and since then has been performed at all British coronations.

The first piece will be "Dettingen Te Deum", composed to celebrate the British victory at the Battle of Dettingen in 1743, and is an example of Händel's talent for choral and orchestral music, full of joy and dramatic contrasts.

These works stand out for their grandeur and Händel's ability to capture the essence of celebrations and historical events through music.

Admission to the event is free, but there will be a reverse box office where attendees can make a voluntary contribution as a show of gratitude and support for the artists.
